Torre-Palacio del Conde de Orgaz, Fontecha

The Torre-Palacio del Conde de Orgaz rises 25 meters high with thick stone walls featuring Gothic windows and defensive arrow slits throughout its structure.

Built in the 14th century, this fortified residence replaced an 11th-century tower and became home to generations of the Mendoza family.

The tower represents the architectural traditions of Basque defensive structures and holds official recognition as a Cultural Heritage Site of the Basque Government.

Located at the crossroads of ancient Roman routes connecting Aquitaine to Astorga, the tower provides views across the valley from its strategic position.

The tower house maintains double rectangular battlements at its crown and includes walls two meters thick with specialized openings for medieval weaponry.
