Pantà de Santa Anna, stuwmeer in La Litera, Spanje
The Pantà de Santa Anna is a large reservoir located in La Litera that spreads across about 768 hectares behind a concrete dam. The water sits at roughly 379 meters in elevation, offering open views of surrounding hills and fields.
The reservoir was constructed in 1961 to manage water flow in the Noguera Ribagorçana river system and serve multiple needs of the region. Its construction flooded areas that were previously inhabited by the villages of Boix and Tragó.
The Pantà de Santa Anna holds meaning for local communities as a place that connects them to the land and water. The reservoir's name reflects the deep roots of the area in its natural surroundings and the way people have always relied on this water source.
The reservoir is easy to access for walking, cycling, horseback riding, and fishing along the shores. Bring what you need for a day outdoors, as there are no large facilities or shops right by the water.
The reservoir contains two small islands that serve as refuge for many bird species during migration seasons. Birdwatchers can observe a large variety of species that use these islands to rest and build nests.
