Sanctuaire of San Migel de Aralar, Uharte-Arakil

The sanctuary stands at 1355 meters altitude on the Aralar mountain range, providing views of the Barranca corridor and surrounding mountains.

Built in 1032 as a Carolingian structure, the current church was reconstructed and consecrated in 1098 following destruction by fire.

The sanctuary incorporates three apses and barrel vaulted naves, representing traditional elements of northern Spanish Romanesque architecture.

Located 50 kilometers from Pamplona, visitors can access the sanctuary through the main road from Lekunberri or secondary routes from Uharte Arakil.

The sanctuary houses ancient iron chains linked to the legend of Teodosio de Goñi, who sought redemption after accidentally killing his parents.
