Casón del Buen Retiro, Cultural heritage site in Spain
The Casón del Buen Retiro is an annex of the Prado Museum in Madrid, housing more than 19th-century works.
Originally built in 1637, it now stands as a prime example of Herrerian architecture.
It preserves significant works, such as the vast canvas ceiling "The Apotheosis of Trajan" by Luca Giordano.
It is located in the heart of Madrid, and easy to reach using public transportation.
Unlike the main building of the Prado Museum, the Casón was originally part of the Buen Retiro palace complex.
