Balandrau, Mountain summit in Queralbs and Vilallonga de Ter, Spain
Balandrau is a mountain summit in the eastern Pyrenees standing at 2585 meters elevation. It is composed of crystalline schist, gneiss, and marble layered throughout its geological structure.
The peak served as a natural boundary between the valleys of Ribes and Camprodon for centuries. This position made it an important reference point for territorial divisions throughout the Ripollès region.
Local communities from Queralbs and Vilallonga de Ter maintain strong connections to the mountain through seasonal celebrations and traditional hiking events.
Several hiking trails lead to the summit, with the most accessible route starting from Vilallonga de Ter. The path is well-marked and relatively exposed, so navigation remains straightforward even when weather changes.
The mountain displays different vegetation zones ranging from thick forests at lower elevations to alpine plants near the summit. This diversity allows hikers to pass through multiple ecosystems during a single ascent.
