The Basilica of Santa Maria exhibits a single nave measuring 43 meters long by 14 meters wide, with six side chapels on each side and a prominent rose window.
The construction of the current structure began in 1700 under architect Pere Blai, marking the transition from medieval architecture to Renaissance and Baroque styles in Igualada.
The interior houses precious religious art, including marble figures from the 18th century and stained glass windows depicting the Apostles created by Oriach firm in 1972.
Visitors can explore the basilica from Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and again from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM.
The church ceiling reaches 23.7 meters in height and features semicircular arches decorated with groin vaults containing sculpted keystones over one meter in diameter.
