Presó Model de València

The Valencia Model Prison features a radial layout with four wings extending from a central point, following the Philadelphia prison system design principles.

Built between 1889 and 1901 under architect Joaquín María Belda's direction, this structure served as a correctional facility until its closure in 1991.

The building combines classical and eclectic architectural elements in its design, reflecting late 19th-century institutional construction methods in Spain.

Following extensive renovations in 2008, the former prison now functions as administrative offices for the Valencian government, accommodating 2,200 civil servants.

The prison's design incorporated a panopticon layout with guard towers at each corner, preventing inmates from interacting during their courtyard time.
