Escucha Formation is a geological layer in eastern Spain composed of limestone, sandstone, and claystone stacked in visible bands. These bands document how sediment accumulated in ancient shallow waters and reveal the structure of the seabed from millions of years ago.
These rock layers formed roughly 100 million years ago when seas covered this region of Spain. Sediment accumulated on the ancient seafloor and became compressed into the distinct bands visible today.
