The castle structure combines Romanesque and Gothic elements, rising 341 meters above sea level with multiple architectural features from different periods.
The fortress emerged around the year 1000 at a strategic location between Moorish and Christian territories, marking the historical frontier of medieval Catalonia.
The castle hosts an annual Medieval Fair during October, presenting regional crafts, local gastronomy, theatrical performances, and traditional music demonstrations.
Guided tours operate Thursday through Sunday with adult tickets priced at 6.50 euros, while children under 8 enter without charge.
The complex underwent one of Catalonia's first medieval structure preservation projects in 1906, led by architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch.
