Embalse de Los Arroyos, embalse en el arroyo Ladrón, afluente del Aulencia
The embalse de Los Arroyos is a small lake in El Escorial in northwest Madrid, fed by the Ladron creek and surrounding streams. It covers about 12 hectares and is held back by a dam built in 1966 that channels water downstream to the Valmayor reservoir.
The dam was constructed in 1966 following a design by engineer Adrián de la Joya Castro, with construction starting in 1964. The project was part of regional efforts to manage water supply and provide recreational opportunities.
The lake takes its name from the streams that feed it. Today it serves as a gathering place where locals enjoy fishing, boating, and spending time together in a natural setting.
The lake is easily reached by car with parking available near the Club Nautico, from where flat wide paths lead around the water. The full walk takes about an hour and suits all ages, with the quietest and most pleasant light occurring in the morning or late afternoon.
The lake served as a filming location for scenes in a popular Netflix series, with characters featured on the water and around the dam. These scenes introduced the location to viewers around the world and made it recognizable to fans of the show.
