Castillo de San Telmo, Maritime lighthouse in Almería, Spain
The San Telmo lighthouse features a square white tower with a black stripe, positioned on a hill 74 meters above the Mediterranean Sea.
Originally built as a fortified tower in 1571, the structure was destroyed in 1811 by English forces and later reconstructed in 1830.
The lighthouse earned recognition as a Bien de Interés Cultural in 1993, marking its importance in Spanish maritime navigation history.
The lighthouse emits two white flashes every 12 seconds and maintains a range of 19 nautical miles, guiding vessels along the Mediterranean coast.
Visitors must climb 70 steps on a steep path connecting Aguadulce village to Almería to reach this former castle turned lighthouse.
