Church of Santa María de los Ángeles, San Vicente de la Barquera

The stone church stands on a hilltop, featuring pointed arches, buttresses, and a high-vaulted ceiling with columns that support the three-nave structure.

Construction began in the 13th century under King Alfonso VIII's patronage in 1210, with significant additions including the transept and tower completed around 1530.

The church contains the Renaissance marble tomb of Inquisitor Antonio del Corro and a baroque altarpiece housing the Virgin of Angels statue from the 15th century.

The building opens to visitors and serves as an active place of worship, with access through three entrances located on the south, west, and north sides.

The church's position within the old town walls includes a special pilgrims' door, marking its connection to the Northern Way of Saint James pilgrimage route.
