Lloma de Betxí

Lloma de Betxí, Bronze Age archaeological site in Paterna, Spain.

Lloma de Betxí is a Bronze Age settlement situated on a hilltop near Paterna, standing approximately 100 meters above sea level close to the Turia River. The excavated structures reveal residential rooms and connecting passages that shed light on how early inhabitants organized their living spaces.

Research at the site began in the 1980s and continued systematically over several decades to understand Bronze Age settlement in the region. The excavations gradually uncovered evidence about the economic activities and social structures of this early community.

Archaeological findings include storage pottery, grinding mills, and farming implements that indicate agricultural activities centered on wheat and barley cultivation.

The site sits on slightly elevated ground very near the Túria and is reachable from the surrounding fields. Visitors should bring comfortable shoes and sun protection, as the terrain is open and offers little shade.

Discoveries of ivory fragments and metallurgical traces reveal that this small settlement was connected to broader trade networks during the Bronze Age. These precious finds suggest economic relationships with distant regions.
