Mine shaft Santa Barbara, Coal mine shaft in Turon, Spain.

The Santa Barbara mine complex features two vertical shafts with metal headframes reaching heights of 30 meters and 17 meters respectively.

The mining site started operations in 1913 under Hulleras de Turon management and remained active until its closure in 1995, becoming part of HUNOSA in 1968.

The mine received recognition as the first Asturian mining site to obtain the highest level of heritage protection status in 2008.

The facility includes machine houses, electrical substations, compressor rooms, ventilation systems, and multiple maintenance workshops distributed across different levels.

The main shaft extends 545 meters below ground, while its auxiliary counterpart reaches a depth of 550 meters for personnel and material transportation.
