Roman thermae of Sant Boi

The Roman thermae of Sant Boi is an ancient bath complex featuring multiple interconnected chambers that once served for washing and relaxation. The excavated site still displays the underground pipes and heating chambers that circulated warm and cold water throughout the structure.

Built in the 2nd century CE, these baths operated for roughly 300 years until they were abandoned around the 5th century. They witnessed daily life throughout a period of major transformations in the region.

These baths served as a social hub where residents would gather daily to wash and spend time together in the warm rooms. You can still sense how central this place was to ordinary life in the valley.

Access to the site is through the Sant Boi Museum, where specialists explain the different rooms and how they functioned. Comfortable shoes are recommended since pathways can be uneven and shaded areas are limited.

The heating system worked through tiny channels beneath the floors that circulated warm air evenly throughout the rooms. This method allowed people to bathe comfortably even on the coldest days.
