Punta Alta de Comalesbienes, Mountain summit in Vall de Boí, Catalonia, Spain
Punta Alta de Comalesbienes is a mountain summit in the Vall de Boí region that rises to about 3,014 meters (9,888 feet). It ranks as one of the three highest peaks within Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park.
The summit was first climbed in the summer of 1880 by mountaineers Schrader and H. Passet. This early ascent helped establish the peak as a known destination for climbing expeditions in the region.
The summit attracts mountaineers who seek to climb all the highest peaks in this mountain range. Many visitors view it as an important goal when exploring the high-altitude routes of the Pyrenees.
Multiple routes lead to the summit, with many starting from Estany de Cavallers and offering different ways to reach the top. The Refugi de Ventosa i Calvell is located nearby and provides shelter for climbers planning longer expeditions.
The climb presents very different challenges depending on the season. In winter it becomes a serious mountaineering objective that requires ice axes, crampons, and other winter climbing gear.
