Serra de Llaberia, Mountain chain and protected area in Tarragona Province, Spain
Serra de Llaberia is a mountain chain in Tarragona Province, lying between the Prades and Tivissa-Vandellòs ranges and featuring limestone formations with steep cliff faces. The highest point rises to about 918 meters.
The protected area received official conservation status in 1992, representing a major milestone for environmental protection in the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range. This designation ensured the long-term preservation of the mountain landscape.
The mountain chain takes its name from the village of Llaberia, which is now part of Tivissa municipality. This connection shows how settlements and the land are intertwined in this region.
Multiple hiking trails begin from Pratdip village, positioned roughly 10 kilometers from the coast and providing convenient starting points. The paths lead to peaks equipped with ropes and chains for secure passage over rocky sections.
The peak of La Miranda hosts a weather radar station providing views of the Mediterranean coast and Els Ports Natural Park. This facility combines modern technology with a location that enables scientific observation of atmospheric conditions.
