Castell de Taradell

The castle stands at 803 meters elevation, featuring remnants of a perimeter wall and sections with opus spicatum construction techniques.

First mentioned in documents from 893, the castle underwent reconstruction in the 14th century and belonged to the Viscount of Joc by the 17th century.

The Chapel of Santa Creu del Castell, documented since the 12th century, remains as part of the castle complex.

The castle ruins received consolidation work between 1984 and 1992 through efforts by local organizations and the Department of Culture.

The northern circular tower, built from ashlar stones during the 10th or 11th century, protected the main entrance gate.
