The monastery features a single-nave church with interconnected chapels, ribbed vaults, and a two-story cloister with Gothic pointed arches.
Construction began in 1514 under Bishop Juan de Velasco's orders, with papal authorization from Julius II to establish a religious complex in Casalarreina.
The monastery houses seven altarpieces, with the main one created in 1620 by Valladolid architect Juan de Garay demonstrating Spanish religious artistry.
Visitors can find the monastery at Plaza de Santo Domingo 5 in Casalarreina, La Rioja, where twelve Dominican contemplative nuns maintain the grounds.
The monastery includes three hectares of enclosed gardens with a flowing stream and a small prayer hermitage within its five thousand square meters.
