Castillo palacio de Marcilla, Gothic fortification in Marcilla, Spain

The castle features a rectangular layout with four prismatic towers at its corners, constructed using stone blocks and bricks in different building phases.

Built in the 15th century by Mosén Pierres de Peralta, the castle transformed from a defensive structure into the residence of the Marquises of Falces.

The castle chapel contains 16th-century paintings and architectural elements that reflect the transition between medieval military and noble residential purposes.

The castle now functions as the town hall of Marcilla and offers guided tours every Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays at 12:00.

The castle housed the legendary sword Tizona, belonging to El Cid Campeador, until 1848 when it was moved to Madrid and later to Burgos Museum.
