Torres de Hercules, Modern office towers in Los Barrios, Spain.
Torres de Hercules comprises two parallel cylindrical towers with 20 floors each, connected by a glass bridge spanning across. The outer concrete lattice framework shields the glass surfaces from direct sun while allowing natural light to enter the office interiors.
The architectural design was completed in 2009 by Rafael de La-Hoz Castanys as part of developing a business center in the Campo de Gibraltar region. The project responded to economic growth initiatives taking place in this border zone.
The name references the ancient Pillars of Hercules, which historically marked the boundary between the Mediterranean and Atlantic. This connection to classical antiquity is part of how the building relates to the region's geographic identity.
The complex is accessible from the main plaza of Los Barrios where parking is available. Walking around the base to view the lagoon and landscaping gives a complete sense of how the building sits within its surroundings.
An artificial lagoon surrounds the base of the towers, incorporating regional plants like palm trees and oleander into the landscape. This water feature transforms the outdoor area into a small oasis within a business district.
