Antic Hospital de Santa Caterina

The Antic Hospital de Santa Caterina is a Baroque building in Girona featuring stone-carved walls and 24 semicircular windows framed by attached semi-columns on its facade. The central entrance portal is highlighted by these carefully arranged architectural elements that follow Baroque principles of symmetry and proportion.

Construction of this medical facility started in 1666 under Bishop Josep Ninot's direction and was completed in 1679. A pharmacy was added later to support the institution's medical operations.

The building now houses regional government offices and serves as an administrative hub for the Generalitat de Catalunya. Locals view it as an important center for institutional activities and public services.

The building sits on the left bank of the Onyar River and contains exhibition spaces along with administrative offices. The location is relatively easy to access as the structure occupies a central position in the city.
