Sant Just i Sant Pastor de Son

Sant Just i Sant Pastor de Son is a Romanesque church with a single nave and a bell tower featuring Lombard-style elements with semicircular windows arranged across four different levels. The tower displays varying window designs at each level, ranging from straight-splayed openings to triple-arched designs.

The earliest documented mention of this church comes from 1076, when two brothers donated their assets in Àneu Valley to Santa Maria of Urgell. This event marks its early importance as a religious center in the region.

Three stone basins inside the church display detailed carvings from the 12th century, showing geometric patterns, human faces, and narrative scenes carved into their surface.

This church sits at 1,399 meters elevation at the eastern end of Son village and is administered by the Esterri d'Àneu parish. Access is straightforward when visiting the village, which is located in the Pyrenees.

The bell tower contains an internal staircase spiraling upward and showcases different window styles at each level, from single splayed openings to triple-arched designs. This variety demonstrates the craftsmanship invested in the tower's construction.
