Monte Santiago, Nature reserve in Berberana, Spain
Monte Santiago Natural Monument extends across 12,000 hectares of land between the provinces of Burgos and Álava, featuring dense beech forests and rocky cliffs.
The site contains archaeological evidence of prehistoric settlements, including a wolf cave adjacent to the Nervión waterfall that dates back thousands of years.
The Casa del Parque Monte Santiago functions as an educational center where visitors learn about local traditions, wildlife conservation, and environmental protection efforts.
Visitors can access Monte Santiago through the BU-556 road from Berberana to Puerto de Orduña, with designated parking areas and marked trails throughout the reserve.
The Salto del Nervión waterfall drops 270 meters in a horseshoe shape, creating one of the highest waterfalls in the Iberian Peninsula.
