Palace of the Senate, Parliament building in Palacio district, Madrid, Spain
The Palace of the Senate stands in the Spanish Navy Square with a rounded facade and neoclassical architectural elements extending across multiple floors.
The structure began as an Augustinian school in 1590, known as Doña María de Aragón School, before transforming into Spain's parliamentary building in 1814.
The Senate building contains important legislative chambers where 264 senators participate in the national decision-making process of Spain's bicameral system.
Visitors can reach the Palace of the Senate through Santo Domingo metro station or by walking from Opera and Callao stations in central Madrid.
The original church of this building displayed El Greco masterpieces, which now reside in the collections of the Prado Museum in Madrid.
