Baixa Segarra, Natural region in northern Conca de Barberà, Spain
Baixa Segarra is a region in northern Conca de Barberà that sits at approximately 700 meters elevation. It bridges the Segarra plateaus with the Barberà erosion basin and the Pre-coastal mountain chain.
The region was designated as part of Tarragona province in 1822 and placed under its jurisdiction. Later it was assigned to the Igualada judicial district.
The settlements here maintain traditional farming methods centered on grain production and seasonal cultivation that define the local way of life.
The area includes municipalities like Passanant i Belltall, Vallfogona de Riucorb, Llorac, Santa Coloma de Queralt, Conesa, and Savallà del Comtat. The rolling landscape means roads can be winding, so plan extra time when traveling between settlements.
Three different water basins meet here: the Ebro via the Corb River, the Llobregat through the Clariana stream, and the Gaià watershed. This position as a hydrological crossroads makes the region a meeting point for multiple river systems.
