App Carros de Foc

App Carros de Foc is a circular hiking route through the Catalan Pyrenees linking nine mountain shelters over roughly 64 kilometers with approximately 4,330 meters of elevation gain. The path crosses the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park and passes through high-altitude terrain dotted with lakes and peaks.

The route began in 1987 when refuge wardens traversed the national park in a single day, and it was officially established in 2000. This early expedition led to the creation of a structured path now followed by hikers from around the world.

The shelters along the route serve regional Catalan mountain dishes and embody traditional high-altitude hospitality practices. Visitors experience a way of traveling that connects directly to local mountain culture.

Reservations for trail passes and shelter accommodations must be made in advance through the central booking system. Hikers should plan adequate time for the journey since daily stages are demanding and require proper footwear and physical preparation.

A speed enthusiast completed the entire circuit in under 9.5 hours in 2020, setting a remarkable pace record. This feat shows that although the route is designed for multi-day hiking, it also attracts extreme sports athletes.
