Escola Industrial

Escola Industrial is an engineering education complex made of brick and stone in La Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, Barcelona. The buildings feature vaulted ceilings and traditional architectural elements distributed throughout the compound.

Rafael Guastavino designed this educational facility in 1868 with innovative construction techniques. His methods later influenced numerous buildings throughout the United States.

The complex demonstrates Noucentisme and eclectic design features that characterize Catalan industrial architecture from the 1800s. These stylistic choices remain visible today and shape how the buildings appear and function as a learning space.

The complex sits near Hospital Clinic metro station on line 5, making it accessible by public transport. The site continues to operate as an engineering education center under the Barcelona Provincial Council.

Albert Einstein visited the institution on February 28, 1923 while staying in Barcelona. Local authorities presented him with recordings of Catalan folk music during his visit.
