Mercat Central

The Central Market building features three naves with distinctive iron columns, stone walls, and large arched windows that maximize natural light throughout the space.

In 1915, architect Josep Maria Pujol i de Barberà designed this market to centralize various scattered sales points across Tarragona at the former Progress Square location.

Located near Rambla Nova, the market opens Monday through Saturday from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM, providing fresh produce, meat, fish, and local specialties.

The market's facade includes a carillon clock that performs daily at noon and 6 PM, displaying six figures dancing to Tarragona's Santa Tecla festival anthem.
