Santuari de la Mare de Déu de l'Ajuda

Santuari de la Mare de Déu de l'Ajuda is a pilgrimage church built in stone in the Catalan mountains with a clearly organized layout. The building has a rectangular main structure with side additions and displays architectural details from different periods on its bell tower and entrance portal.

The sanctuary developed as part of a rural settlement and was established as a religious center in the early 11th century. The building later suffered damage from military conflict but was subsequently restored and rebuilt.

The sanctuary serves as a pilgrimage destination where visitors come to pray and make personal offerings to the Virgin Mary. The church remains an active place of worship where local believers gather for religious services and spiritual reflection.

The sanctuary originally housed a statue of Mary that was lost during armed conflict and was later replaced with a new one. This replacement was crafted from special wood, adding a distinctive quality to the space.
