The Teatro Rosalía de Castro is a theatre located in the heart of A Coruña with a stage measuring approximately 150 square meters (1,600 square feet). The auditorium spans multiple levels and holds around 712 seats throughout its seating areas.
The building was first constructed in 1840 as the Coliseo San Jorge before a fire destroyed it in 1867. It was rebuilt in 1868 under the direction of architect Faustino Domínguez Coumes-Gay.
The theatre serves as a gathering place where the city's artistic life unfolds through performances and community engagement. It functions as a stage for local and regional creative expression in the performing arts.
The theatre is located in the city center near Plaza de María Pita on Calle Real, making it easy to reach from the main square. The building shares space with the Provincial Library, which helps with orientation in the area.
