Molí de la Torre, Historic farmhouse in El Far d'Empordà, Spain
Molí de la Torre is a large brick farmhouse near Figueres in the municipality of El Far d'Empordà. The building has a main section with two upper floors, a side wing with an attic, and a rooftop terrace with a balustrade and a central tower.
Built in 1853 as a gristmill, the property later passed through several owners, including the opera singer Maria Pichot. In the late 20th century it housed a naïve art museum for a short time, and in the 2000s part of it became a restaurant.
The name comes from the Marquis de la Torre, who ordered its construction. Salvador Dalí spent time here as a child and later wrote that the place felt made for dreaming.
The farmhouse stands about 100 meters from the C-31 road, set back from the village center. Visitors can view the exterior and the tower from the road, but the interior is not regularly open to the public.
The building once generated its own electricity using a dynamo powered by an artificial canal, until 1950. Dalí mentioned in his autobiography that many of his dreams, especially erotic ones, took place there.
