Marrecs de Salt, Human tower group in Salt, Spain
Marrecs de Salt is a human tower group based in Salt that constructs elaborate structures with members stacked in multiple layers from a broad base. Participants must develop strength, balance, and precise timing to succeed in this collective activity.
The group was established in 1995 after members attended performances by other tower-building teams, making their debut in January 1996. This founding occurred during a period of growing interest in reviving traditional Catalan practices.
The group performs at local festivals across Catalonia, preserving a tradition deeply rooted in the region's social gatherings and collective celebrations.
The group meets weekly at their headquarters in Naus Guixeres for training sessions where experienced members teach newcomers the techniques and movements. Visitors can watch or participate in public performances during local festivals throughout the year.
During the 2013 Sant Narcis celebrations, the group achieved a memorable milestone by successfully completing four complex structures, with the tallest reaching eight layers high. This performance remains one of their most celebrated moments.
