Torre del Marquès d'Alella
Torre del Marquès d'Alella, Art Nouveau mansion with Mediterranean gardens in Sant Gervasi-Galvany, Spain.
Torre del Marques d'Alella is a four-story mansion in the Art Nouveau style featuring ionic columns and arched loggias throughout its design. Carved stone facades and ornate stucco work showcase the architectural richness characteristic of early 1900s residential design.
The mansion was built in 1922 by architect Enric Sagnier for Fernando Fabra i Puig, the second Marquis of Alella. Its construction took place during a period when Barcelona's wealthy families were investing in distinctive residential estates.
The Goyesca Room displays frescoes featuring Majas and Chulapos that blend historical Spanish popular themes with decorative elements. These spaces reflect how the former owner valued Spanish artistic traditions.
Access to the gardens is available through Muntaner Street 282, where visitors can walk through the property grounds. Visitors should check in advance about opening arrangements and the best ways to explore the spaces.
The Music Room preserves original stucco decorations and houses a grand piano from the late 1800s among period furnishings. Few visitors realize how these preserved instruments reveal the musical life the family once enjoyed.
