Olivera de Cort

Olivera de Cort is an ancient olive tree standing in the center of Plaza de Cort in Palma's old town. Its trunk is thick and gnarled, while the canopy spreads above and provides shade for the surrounding plaza.

The tree was relocated to Plaza de Cort in 1989 from a private estate, bringing with it centuries of age and growth. This transplantation preserved an old specimen at a central location where it could be seen and protected.

The tree sits at the heart of the old town, where locals pass by daily and gather in the surrounding plaza. Its twisted form and weathered appearance have made it a natural gathering spot that connects people to the place's identity.

The plaza is easily reached on foot from various directions in the old town center. You can find benches and cafes nearby where you can sit and spend time observing the surroundings.

The trunk has natural twists and hollow formations that locals see as faces, with one distinctive shape known as Orella de Mallorca. These weathered patterns give the tree a sculptural quality that each visitor interprets differently.
