Platja de la Punta, Sand beach in Roses, Spain
Platja de la Punta is a golden sand urban beach in Roses, on the Costa Brava in Catalonia, Spain, tucked between the town harbor and a breakwater. The beach runs about 450 m long and 70 m wide, making it one of the more compact stretches along the Roses waterfront.
Roses is one of the oldest coastal towns on the Costa Brava, with roots going back to a Greek settlement founded around the 8th century BC. The area around the beach took its current shape as the town's harbor and its protective structures were built up over the centuries.
Platja de la Punta sits between the Roses harbor and a breakwater, which gives it a sheltered position that locals appreciate. On summer evenings, people walk along the shore or sit at the nearby bars watching the boats come and go.
The beach is easy to reach on foot from the center of Roses, as it sits right along the seafront promenade. Showers, sun lounger rentals, and nearby food and drink options are available during the summer season, so most visitors can spend the whole day without needing to go far.
Because of the breakwater on one side, the water at Platja de la Punta tends to stay calmer than at most other beaches in Roses, even on windier days. This makes it a spot that families with young children often prefer over the longer and more open main beach.
