Platja de Cristall, Urban beach in Mont-roig del Camp, Spain
Platja de Cristall is an urban beach in Mont-roig del Camp, on the Costa Dorada in the province of Tarragona. It runs for about 1,150 metres and is roughly 90 metres wide, with fine golden sand and shallow entry into the Mediterranean. The beach sits beside the built-up seafront of the resort, so its back edge borders the promenade and adjoining streets.
The beach was originally an undeveloped coastal area that gradually became a recreational destination as Costa Dorada tourism grew. Infrastructure development followed the increasing popularity of the region.
The beach serves as a gathering place where locals enjoy swimming and water activities in a relaxed setting. Its shallow waters near the shore make it welcoming for families and those new to swimming.
The beach provides showers, restrooms, and lifeguard services for visitor safety. Multiple entry points and parking areas make it easy to access the water.
Platja de Cristall lies at the mouth of the dry Riera de Riudoms, and the sand ridge that separates it from the wetlands behind is what gives the beach its name, "Crystal Beach". Bathers often overlook the small stone channel that once fed a coastal pond here.
