Plaza de toros de Burgos, bullring in Burgos, Spain
The Plaza de Toros del Plantío is a bullring in Burgos with capacity for over 12,000 spectators arranged in different seating sections. The structure features a concrete and glass wall, three large entrance doors, and a roof that covers the upper levels while keeping the arena open to the sky.
The arena opened in 1967 after replacing the old Plaza de los Vadillos that was demolished in 1965. Construction took about 200 days starting in October 1966, bringing the city's bullfighting tradition into a new era.
The bullring was a gathering place where residents celebrated bullfighting traditions and attended festivals that shaped local life. Over decades, it served as a center for community celebrations and marked important moments in the city's social calendar.
The arena is easily accessible with three large entrances and nearby parking for convenient arrival. The seating sections include both shaded and sunny areas, allowing visitors to choose their preferred comfort level depending on weather conditions.
In 1975, one of Spain's first rock music festivals took place here with bands like Alcatraz and Eva Rock, showing the venue could host events beyond traditional bullfighting. This versatility helped the arena remain relevant for different types of shows over the years.
