Cementerio de Sad Hill, Film location in Santo Domingo de Silos, Spain.
Cementerio de Sad Hill is a film set in Santo Domingo de Silos built for a famous western. Stone circles surround a central platform in a valley between mountain slopes.
The Spanish military built this set in 1966 for the final scene of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Volunteers restored the stone circles and cleared the land nearly half a century later.
Visitors often come here to relive the final shootout scene from the spaghetti western. Many take photographs from the central platform where the three main characters once stood.
You can reach the site via rural roads from Contreras or Santo Domingo de Silos. The paths are unpaved, so sturdy footwear is recommended.
After decades under vegetation, volunteers uncovered and rebuilt the gravestones starting in 2015. The community now organizes an annual volunteer day to maintain the site.
