Presa de Riba-roja

The Riba-roja dam spans 362 meters across the Ebro River, rising 60 meters high and creating a reservoir with a capacity of 210 million cubic meters.

The construction of this infrastructure project marked a significant development in Spain's energy sector when it commenced operations in January 1969.

The dam represents a milestone in Catalonian engineering, demonstrating the region's commitment to sustainable water management and renewable energy production.

Four Kaplan turbine-generators operate within the facility, generating 262.8 MW of electricity while supplying water for irrigation and drinking purposes.

The dam's spillway system includes seven gates that can manage water discharge rates up to 11,670 cubic meters per second.
