Castillo de Canena, Renaissance castle in Canena, Spain

Francisco de los Cobos, secretary to Charles I, acquired the castle in 1538 and transformed it into a palace designed by architect Andrés de Vandelvira.

The interior courtyard displays Renaissance influences through its ionic columns, balustrades, and double gallery with cloister staircase.

Visitors can access the castle on Mondays from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM through the Hidden Treasures of La Loma program by prior appointment.

The castle features a central square keep that was originally surrounded by a moat with access through a drawbridge system.
