Moret

Moret is a bronze and marble memorial standing in Plaza de San Juan de Dios, featuring a sculpted figure mounted on a marble base inscribed with virtues such as patriotism, freedom, loyalty, and eloquence. The work combines different materials and carries text that explains why it was created.

The memorial was erected in 1906 through public subscription initiated by Mayor Cayetano del Toro, honoring Segismundo Moret who was born in Cádiz in 1833. His work as a politician, particularly his efforts regarding colonial territories, prompted the city to create this tribute.
