Les Casetes Blanques, Architectural ensemble in Montbau, Spain.
Les Casetes Blanques consists of 58 single-family houses arranged in six rows along the slopes of Collserola mountain, connected by five pedestrian passages.
The Barcelona Municipal Housing Board commissioned architect Joan Bosch to design this residential complex, which was constructed between 1964 and 1968.
The complex represents a transition between garden city design and compact building structure, adapting Mediterranean architectural principles to mountainside construction.
The houses feature a duplex layout with the upper floor perpendicular to the lower level, creating bridges over landscaped pedestrian walkways.
Each residence integrates into the mountainside through a terraced design where upper house terraces serve as roofs for the homes below.
