Kastelli Giant's Church

Kastelli Giant's Church is a massive stone enclosure in Raahe, Finland, built with thick walls and featuring multiple gateways. The structure encloses a large open interior and is surrounded by many additional stone formations and pits scattered across the site.

The enclosure was built between 3000 and 2000 BC during the Sub Neolithic period. It once stood on the seashore but was moved inland by geological uplift over time.

The builders belonged to the Pöljä ceramic culture and created this massive stone enclosure as part of a wider tradition across the region. Visitors can see today how the open interior space was used and why the six gateways mattered to the community.

The site is easily found by following signs from Linnanrantie and has a dedicated parking area near the entrance path. Visiting in daylight hours gives the best view of the stone structures and their layout.

The site is listed as a tentative World Heritage candidate and registered as an archaeological site. Six different locations nearby show clear evidence of people living there for extended periods.
