Pakaa, Rural village in Orimattila, Finland
Pakaa is a village in the southern section of Orimattila municipality along the Lahti-Loviisa road. It has two railroad crossings, with Pakaa I remaining open while Pakaa II maintains a barrier restricting vehicle access.
The village appeared on maps during the 1800s under the name Backas, reflecting Swedish influences in the settlement's early development. This naming reveals the region's historical connections to the broader Scandinavian sphere.
The village has a youth center called Pakaan Nuorisomaja with a sports field that becomes an ice rink in winter. This space serves as a gathering point that shapes local community life.
The location is easily accessible via the Lahti-Loviisa road and has two railroad crossings to be aware of. Visitors should note that one crossing is restricted to vehicle traffic.
In 1906 the village contained 29 independent farms, 12 crofts, and 77 mountain cabins. The Riihimäki farm was a major property owner managing multiple holdings in the area at that time.
