Luukkaansalmi Bridge

Luukkaansalmi Bridge is a road bridge in Lappeenranta that crosses the Saimaa Canal, connecting the Lauritsala and Vehkataipale neighborhoods. Its design includes a high central span to allow vessels to pass underneath.

The bridge was completed in 1989 and created a direct road connection between two important neighborhoods. Its construction was a significant infrastructure project for the southeastern Finland region.

The bridge offers views of Lappeenranta's center, the Kaukas industrial complex, and the Joutseno wind turbines, representing local industrial development.

The bridge is well connected to the local road network and offers easy access from both sides of the canal. Visitors can freely cross it or enjoy the view from its length.

The bridge appeared in the Finnish television series Bordertown, gaining international attention through its use as a filming location. Its position over the canal made it a natural choice for scenes in the show.
