The Château de Vincennes is a massive 14th and 17th century French royal fortress in the town of Vincennes, to the east of Paris.
Originally built as a hunting lodge for Louis VII in the 12th century, it was expanded into a full-fledged castle by Philip Augustus.
The castle has served various purposes over the centuries, including a porcelain factory, a prison, and now a public park and museum.
It's open to the public and can be reached via the Paris Métro.
The Château de Vincennes houses the tallest fortified medieval dungeon in Europe.
