Ungersberg

Ungersberg, Mountain summit in Bas-Rhin, France.

Ungersberg is a mountain in the Vosges range positioned between Andlau Valley and Val de Villé, reaching 901 meters in elevation. A stone tower crowns its summit, from which visitors can observe the surrounding valleys and the flat Alsace Plain below.

The summit hosted a significant gathering in 1493 when leaders of an early peasant movement met at this location. This event marks an important moment in the region's medieval history.

The tower at the summit serves as a gathering point where visitors come to enjoy the views and share experiences with fellow hikers. It has become a landmark that connects people to the mountain and the surrounding region.

Multiple marked trails ascend to the summit, with walking times ranging from one to two hours depending on the chosen route. The best starting point depends on which valley you approach from and your hiking experience level.

The name originates from Alsatian dialect and references a historical population group from the region. Those interested in linguistic connections will find in it a link to the area's cultural past.
