Construction of the Monteynard Dam commenced in 1955, and the facility began operations in 1962 as a major component of France's hydroelectric infrastructure.
The dam's exhibition space presents films and photographs documenting the engineering achievements and industrial development of the Drac Valley region.
The facility generates 490 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually through four Francis turbines, supplying power to approximately 200,000 residents.
Two suspension bridges, measuring 220 and 180 meters, cross the artificial lake at heights between 45 and 85 meters above water level.
