Musée Rimbaud

The Musée Rimbaud is housed in a 17th-century mill building positioned alongside the Meuse River, with galleries dedicated to the poet's biography and written work. The structure retains its original industrial character, featuring period architecture and riverside views.

This museum opened in 1969 and received official designation as a 'musée de France' in 2003, marking recognition of its importance to French cultural heritage. That certification reflected the nation's acknowledgment of Rimbaud's significance in literary history.

The name Rimbaud remains woven into local identity, connecting the town to its most famous son and his literary legacy. Visitors see how the poet shaped generations of artists and thinkers who came after him.

The museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Sunday, with adjusted opening hours depending on whether you visit during summer or winter months. Full wheelchair accessibility throughout means all guests can navigate the building without difficulty.

The collection holds five original photographs and two self-portraits of Arthur Rimbaud, making these images exceptionally rare and valuable to view in person. Additionally, signed manuscripts of his poems such as 'Voyelles' and 'A la musique' can be seen in the galleries.
